SpeedOf.Me is a broadband speed test service you can use for free on all your devices to measure your download speed, upload speed, and latency.

This is a complete HTML5/JavaScript speed test that uses the core browser technologies. This design allows it to run on any HTML5-enabled browser, including those on desktop computers and mobile devices such as Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows, and macOS.

SpeedOf.Me tests several metrics, including download speed, upload speed, latency, IP address, and the test server used. Click on Start Test on the website, and the website will display a real-time graph of the speed of downloads and uploads along with latency, IP address, and test server values. Users can check the history of their conducted speed tests as well.

Also, users have the repeat option to verify the results multiple times or check their speed at different times. Additionally, if you want to share the results, it includes a sharing option that allows users to post their results on Facebook or Twitter.

The metrics that SpeedOf.Me calculates include:

  • Download Speed: The speed at which data is downloaded from the internet to your device.
  • Upload Speed: The speed at which data is uploaded from your device to the internet.
  • Latency: The delay in the transfer of data, often referred to as ‘ping’.
  • IP Address: The unique address of your device on the internet.
  • Test Server: The server used to conduct the test, which is automatically selected for best results.

SpeedOf.Me also has an API that you can use without hosting SpeedOf.Me software on your application. This Javascript API measures the client’s download speed, upload speed, latency, and jitter.  You can use the API to:

  • Build your own speed test service
  • Gather user statistics and benchmark bandwidth usage
  • Set up a client-specific audio/video streaming quality
  • Perform diagnostics on networks and connectivity
  • Provide a time estimate for downloading/uploading a file
  • Integrate it into your IoT or smart home device
